Inside pen you will find an ink converter. This gives you the option of using ink from the bottle. If you prefer to use the cartridges, first remove the converter inside and push your cartridge in until it feels secure. Enjoy writing as normal. Keep the plastic cover over the nib when you are not using it to avoid the ink drying out and clogging up the nib. If this happens simply allow nib to sit in some warm water and replace the cartridge. Not suitable for young children.
